What can be submitted to SORBS...?
First, submission to the automated listing system is not possible. If you have a new proxy server to list, please submit it to one of the other proxy DNSbl's. ( Like Maximilliano Kulos's open proxy list - the proxy lists are shared between all DNSbl's listing proxies).

Submissions to SORBS can be made for the following:
  • The Dynamic User/Host List (DUHL)
  • The Bad DNS Config List
  • The No e-mail from this domain list.

Submissions to the Dynamic User/Host List (DUHL)
This is a IP based list, and therefore forms part of dnsbl.sorbs.net, and is available separately as dul.dnsbl.sorbs.net.

The Dynamic User and Host List (DUHL) is similar to other D.U.L. lists, however, a lot of others are actually Dial-Up Lists. The SORBS DUHL is a list of net blocks that the address space is Dynamically assigned to users and hosts, which makes identification of spam sources a little more difficult. It is a matter of debate as to whether a user at home should be running their own mail server, however, it is the opinion of SORBS that anyone competent should be allowed to run their own mail server, but all outgoing mail from dynamic address space (and in some cases static space) should be made to flow through their ISP's mail server.

To submit to the Dynamic User and Host List, you must be a person of authority for the address block, therefore SORBS will only take submission to the DUHL from SORBS registered logins where the registered email address matches the WHOIS record for the domain, and from the postmaster address at your domain.

Submissions may be made by mailing duhl@sorbs.net, however end users should use the SORBS support system.

Submissions to the Bad DNS Config List
This is a domain based list (sometimes knows as a Right Hand Side Block List - RHSbl), and forms part of rhsbl.sorbs.net. It is available separately as baddns.rhsbl.sorbs.net.

This list is explicitly for domains with bad DNS configurations, the sort that can cause real problems with certain mail servers. Hosts & Domains listed here will be because of one of the following:
  • At least one MX record points to:
    • 127.0.0.1/32
    • 0.0.0.0/8
    • 255.255.255.0/8
  • At least one MX record points to:
    • 10.0.0.0/8
    • 172.16.0.0/12
    • 192.168.0.0/16
    • Any address 224.0.0.0 - 254.255.255.255
    and does NOT have a MX record in normal address space.

Submissions to the No Mail from these domains list
This is a domain based list (sometimes knows as a Right Hand Side Block List - RHSbl), and forms part of rhsbl.sorbs.net. It is available separately as nomail.rhsbl.sorbs.net.

This list is a domain based submission list of hosts & domains that will never be used for sending legitimate mail. An example of this is the domain: *.supernews.net, the SuperNews admins have indicated that no mail will ever be sent from the following domains:
  • corp.supernews.com
  • corp.supernews.net
  • news.supernews.com
  • news.supernews.net
Yet it seems some spammers like to use these domains for their fake from addresses in their spam.

Submissions to this list are similar to the DUHL list, you may only submit a domain by using an address registered in SORBS, which matches the WHOIS information for your domain, the postmaster@ address for your domain, or the email address listed in the SOA record for your domain.
